Therapeutic value

Current treatment options Impulsive Aggression (I.A.) is een nieuwe naam voor een bekend probleem bij kinderen met een brede diagnostische classificatie (van VB tot ontwikkelingsstoornissen als ADHD, autisme, et cetera) het is moeilijk te behandelen, dit wordt meestal gedaan door middel van een combinatie van (gedrags) therapeutisch interventies tot medicatie . Er is geen (specifiek) agressie regulerende medicatie, verschillende geneesmiddelen worden beschreven van anti-epileptica tot een diversiteit van antipsychotica. Een voorbeeld van een medicijn dat ingezet zou kunnen worden is risperidon.

Substantiation Het is nog onduidelijk of molindone een plaats zal krijgen en zo ja welke plaats het krijgt naast de andere antipsychotica die gebruikt worden om agressie te behandelen. Er lijken geen specifieke aanwijzingen dat het qua (bij)werkingsprofiel anders is dan de andere klassieke antipsychotica. In die zin kunnen er vooralsnog geen uitspraken gedaan worden.

Additional remarks In 2018 is in de GIP databank te zien dat er 77.028 kinderen tussen de 5 en 14 jaar gebruik gemaakt hebben van psychostimulantia middelen voor ADHD en nootropica (ATC-subgroep N06B). De prevalentie van Impulsive Aggression onder kinderen die ADHD medicijnen slikken is 26%. Dit zou betekenen dat er in theorie 20.000 mogelijke patiënten in aanmerking komen voor molindone. Het is op dit moment nog niet bekend hoeveel van deze patiënten gebruik zullen maken van molindone.
