Substantiation In 2019 is de GINA-2019 verschenen. Daarin heeft voor milde astma een grote verandering plaatsgevonden: jarenlang was voor milde astma het adagium SABA, maar indien te frequent gebruik van een SABA dan een ICS toevoegen. Vanaf 2019 is het advies een formoterol bevattende combinatie van ICS/LABA geworden voor zo nodig gebruik bij mild astma. Budenoside/formoterol is een voorbeeld van een dergelijke combinatie.

Additional remarks In 2015 waren er naar schatting 613.500 personen met astma. De prevalentie van mild astma varieert afhankelijk van de studie en definitie, maar ligt tussen de 50%-75%. In Nederland is voor deze indicatie een verwachte doelgroep die qua aantallen ligt tussen de 306.000 en 460.000. Deze mensen gebruikten voorheen een SABA zo nodig met al of niet een onderhoud van ICS. En zullen overstappen op een formoterol bevattende combinatie van ICS/LABA.
