Substantiation Botaretigene sparoparvovec is een recombinant adeno-associated virus vector. Deze therapievorm is bekend en wordt al ingezet (voretigeen). Echter is dat maar in 1% van de gevallen in te zetten. Botaretigeen zou breder inzetbaar moeten zijn. De resultaten uit de klinische studie lieten na 12 maanden in 63% van de patiënten die met een hoge dosis AGTC-501 behandeld werden(6.8E + 11 vg/eye) een vooruitgang zien van de retina sensitiviteit van tenminste 7 decibel (dB) in minstens 5 loci.

Additional remarks Prevalentie:1 op de 3.000 tot 1 op de 5.000 (1). In Nederland betreft dat ongeveer 3.500 tot 5.850 personen. Botaretigeen grijpt in op het RPGR-gen. Dit gen is bij 10% van de RP-patiënten aangedaan (2). Dit zou dus betekenen dat dit middel bij 350 tot 585 personen kan worden ingezet .
